The title refers both to physical distance and to the invisible space that shapes human relationships. Familiarity and estrangement coexist within this space, creating a tension between closeness and separation. The blue fabric functions as a protective layer, while its folds and stretched surfaces reveal a simultaneous desire for connection and self-protection.
Using time-lapse, the work compresses the passage of a day into a single sequence. Shifting light and shadow transform an otherwise static scene, evoking the way memories are condensed, altered, and preserved over time. Between reflects on relationships that remain suspended within memory, occupying a space between presence and distance, attachment and separation.
사이는 친밀한 관계 안에 존재하는 모호한 거리감을 탐구한 단채널 영상 작업이다. 푸른 천으로 덮인 두 개의 책장은 서로를 마주 보며 놓여 있으며, 연결되어 있으면서도 분리된 두 존재를 암시한다.
작품의 제목은 물리적 거리를 의미하는 동시에 인간관계를 형성하는 보이지 않는 간격을 가리킨다. 이 공간 안에는 친숙함과 낯섦, 가까움과 거리감이 공존한다. 푸른 천은 보호와 결속의 의미를 지니는 동시에, 팽팽하게 당겨진 표면과 주름을 통해 연결을 향한 욕구와 방어적인 태도가 함께 존재함을 드러낸다.
타임랩스로 촬영된 영상은 하루의 시간을 압축하며, 빛과 그림자의 변화 속에서 정지된 공간을 서서히 변화시킨다. 이는 기억이 시간의 흐름 속에서 압축되고 변형되는 방식을 떠올리게 한다. 사이는 기억 속에 머무는 관계와, 존재와 거리 사이에 놓인 감정의 간극에 대해 이야기한다.
